The first edition of the Coors Light WAKEAST took place in July 2003 at Club Nautique St-Louis in Lac Saint-Joseph. It was then promoted under the name of Wakefest. 70 athletes participated to this wakeboard ompetition regarless of the heavy rain. 600 persons also braved the bad weather to see the performances.

In July 2004, the Wakefest took place at Duchesnay, also in Lac Saint-Joseph, in order to accomodate more people. Bad weather conditions and some problems related to the site were part of this second edition.

In 2005, the event's name changed for the actual name Coors Light WAKEAST. Since then, the event takes place at Plage du Lac Saint-Joseph and is now recognized as one of the most important canadian rail competition. Each year 10,000 persons assist to the competition and $6,000 are given in prizes to the world best wakeboarders.
